The SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Shampoo was formulated for fine to medium hair. It has a lovely tropical scent with fruity undertones. I love that this Weightless Shampoo has imbe oil to block humidity and control frizz as well as aloe to promote great shine. It also has a blend of dragon fruit, lychee berry, and green apple extracts to nourish hair. This Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Shampoo is almost translucent and is quite watery for a shampoo. I wish it was a little thicker, especially if you want to avoid wasting product unnecessarily while in the shower. Although this is a sulfate-free shampoo, it has great lather. I’m not a huge fan of super sudsy shampoos, so I was kind of caught off guard by all the frothy foam in the shower. However, if you want a sulfate-free shampoo that has plenty of suds, this might be perfect for you!

I shampooed my hair once, but a second shampoo can be done if desired. After gently agitating my scalp with the pads of my fingers and rinsing out the Weightless Shampoo, my hair felt uber soft and silky. I was so excited, I added the Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Crème Rinse right away!

The SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Crème Rinse, like the Weightless Shampoo, was formulated for fine to medium hair. It has pretty much the same tropical scent of the Weightless Shampoo. Unlike the shampoo, though, this Weightless Crème Rinse is much thicker and a lot more opaque (i.e., white in color).  After applying the conditioner to my hair, I carefully finger detangled my strands. Then, I let the conditioner absorb into my hair for a couple of minutes while I finished my shower. The Crème Rinse has medium viscosity, yet it didn’t weigh down my hair. When I rinsed it out, my hair felt silky soft and my curls were popping! Like the Weightless Shampoo, this conditioner also contains imbe oil for controlling frizz and aloe for adding shine.

When I finished washing and conditioning my hair, my hair looked great. My curls were sculpted, frizz-free, and slightly elongated. However, when I went to moisturize my hair, I saw that the Weightless Shampoo and Crème Rinse had failed to remove all the debris from my scalp. Even though I had not used gel during the week, I had quite noticeable product build-up on the front third of my head that had remained. Not cute!  So, although my hair was left soft, hydrated, and shiny, I was very disappointed by the inability of the Weightless Shampoo and Crème Rinse to thoroughly cleanse my scalp.

The next time I washed my hair, I did TWO shampoos and then added the Crème Rinse. During the second wash, I noticed that the Weightless Shampoo lathered quite a bit! So, this shampoo does has suds, they just don’t seem to appear until after the first wash. Upon inspecting my scalp this time around, it appeared completely free of product buildup and debris. So. a second wash proved too be a must for me with these products.

PROS

  • Made with natural, certified organic and ethically sourced ingredients
  • Designed for a myriad of consumers: persons with natural, chemically processed, or heat styled hair
  • A rich sulfate-free shampoo that lathers A LOT
  • Shampoo and conditioner leave hair soft and shiny
  • Shampoo restores moisture without weighing down hair
  • Conditioner is lightweight and easily detangles
  • Both the shampoo and conditioner are sulfate-free, color safe, and cruelty-free. They also DO NOT contain any phthalates, propylene glycol, mineral oil, or petroleum

CONS

Although I loved the way my hair FELT and LOOKED after using the Weightless Shampoo and Crème Rinse, I didn’t like the fact that my scalp was left with product buildup. However, a second wash seemed to remedy this.
